We’re proud to announce that we are part of the Metaverse Standards Forum that intends to push the development of an open and inclusive metaverse forward. Besides some well-known principal members like Meta, Microsoft, Adobe, IKEA, and Google, DGG is one of the now almost 700 companies that joined the forum. We look forward to seeing what the community can achieve in the future to set the standards for the emergence of an open metaverse.

The Metaverse Standards Forum is an industry-wide forum consisting of Standards organizations like the Khronos Group, the World Wide Web Consortium, the Open Geospatial Consortium and companies that follow the vision of the development of an open and inclusive metaverse. Members of the forum will determine the activities of the forum based on their needs and interests, which may involve technology domains such as:

  • Interactive 3D assets and photorealistic rendering
  • Human interface and interaction paradigms including AR, VR and XR
  • User created content
  • Avatars, identity management and privacy
  • Financial transactions
  • IOT and digital twins
  • Geospatial systems

As a long-time supporter of the Khronos Group, DGG has always been a contributor when it comes to the emergence and development of standards for pervasive 3D. Read more about the evolution of 3D in our 2020 interview with Neil Trevett, President of the Khronos Group.
